Anne of Green Gables (Author: Sophie)

Anne of Green Gables

By: L.M. Montgomery

Interviewed by: Sophie Magill

“Matthew Cuthbert who’s that”? She ejaculated “where is the boy”?

This story is about an orphan girl who just wants to have a home for her whole life. Her name is Anne Shirley. The book title is “Anne of Green Gables”. Anne has been passed on by many people and now finds herself at Green Gables Matthew and Marilla are the owners of Green Gables. But Matthew and Marilia Cuthbert are expecting a boy not a girl.

This book is very well put and the author L.M. Montgomery. “Anne of Green Gables” has a lot of strengths and no weaknesses. One strength is that it has good vocabulary. For example it uses words like anxiety, sorrowful and buxom. Those are very big words that most kids wouldn’t understand. This story is one of the best stories I have ever read.

I recommend this book to 4th – 8th graders because it uses big words like buxom. Little kids wouldn’t understand these big words. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

FRINDLE ( Reviewed by Praneeth)

Discover the new things is the goal!!!!!

The genre of Frindle is realistic fiction book. It is about a boy named Nick. Nick had to do the word project and Nick chose the word “Frindle” for the word project. A teacher whose name is Mrs. Granger is trying to stop the word Frindle. Will Nick get the scholarship award? Read to find out.

The author’s words are very good. For example,” Nick turned Ms. Deaver’s room into a tropical island and Nick made a squeaking noise in a classroom which is in the blackbird discovery in fourth grade.

This story is very good and cool. Nick is the character who is the best but not Mrs. Granger because she is stopping the word “Frindle”. This story is the one that is my best favorite because it has a lot of curiosity ,humor and action.

I recommend this story for kids who like fiction the best and for grades 2-5 so they can mostly understand the story. Other grades understand this book but they are too old to read this book.

“When I bent, my eyes got stuck on the book!”

This book’s genre is Fantasy and Fiction! Because a dragon’s cousin is a fish. This book is about two boys named Danny and Avast. This book is about Danny getting an F on his test. Because he didn’t know a lot about the sea.

This book only has strengths no weaknesses. I will list two strengths. For example, the author uses strong words to describe stuff. Like enthusiasm, and obnoxious.

I would recommend this book to grades 3rd and 4th. Because they would understand this book. I give this book 5/5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Austere Academy (Author: Abby)

A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Austere Academy (Reviewed by Abby)

By: Lemony Snicket

Will Count Olaf get away?

I would say this book is fiction because you could have an evil madman chasing you or you could be sent away to boarding school. A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Austere Academy is a very lively book. There are three children, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, who encounter a terrible man when their parents die in a fire. The man’s name is Count Olaf and he disguises himself as many things. When the Baudelaire Orphans go to boarding school they discover that their new gym teacher is Count Olaf.

I think this story is just like the others. For example Count Olaf finds the children, they try and tell somebody, and the people don’t believe them.

The author’s writing style is very good. For example when there is a part in the book that is exciting and something is about to happen he stops and explains everything. I like it when he does that because it makes you think even more.

Lemony Snicket is very descriptive. Especially when it comes to new characters. For example “If you were to give a gold medal to the least delightful person on earth, you would have to give that medal to a person named Carmelita Spats, and if you don’t give it to her, Carmelita Spats was the sort of person who would snatch it from your hands anyway. Carmelita Spats was rude, she was violent, and she was filthy, and it is a shame that I must describe her to you, because there are enough ghastly and distressing things in this story without even mentioning such an unpleasant person.”

I would recommend this book for 4th and 5th graders because I think they would understand it better. I would give this book 3 ½ out of 5 stars because all of the books are mostly the same.

Dragonbreath (Author: Josh)

DRAGONBREATH

Book review

Can Danny DRANGONBREATH’s adventures get any crazier? First, there was an insane sea adventure. What next, monkeys eating potato salad?

Dawng! That’s all I can say. DRAGONBREATH is about a boy named Danny. Somehow Danny pulls his friend Wendell into a massive adventure in the sea. They are fighting off sharks, whales and giant squids. For example, there was one part of the book where Danny and Wendell got chased into a cave and almost got eaten.

Let me give you my ups and downs on the book. One up is that they show you a good mix of pictures and text. A downer to the book is at some select parts it’s boring. Another up is the book is hilarious. Almost every part of the book is a make you squirt milk out of your nose funny. There really were only one thumb down and two thumbs up.

A major reason why Danny and Wendell went on this adventure is Danny wanted to see his cousin Edward. But mainly, Danny wanted to improve his grade on the paper for school about the sea that he got an F on. So what better way than to go under the sea to try to get an A.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I really liked it a lot. Not because of the pictures, but because it was an exciting book.

Warriors into the Wild (Author: Nate)

Book Report Nate

10/18/10

Do you believe in the Warrior Code? Warriors into the Wild, the first of 21 books in the epic Warriors series, is an amazing tale of cat characters that follow the Warrior Code when they fight for territory. The clans of cats fight, hunt, have adventures, and well, struggle to survive! For example, Yellowfang, elder she-cat of the ThunderClan, must fight against her own son so that one of their warring clans will eat.

If there were a Warriors movie, I’d definitely be in line for it! Erin Hunter is a great, one out of a million, writer. She often creates a light, cheery mood. For example, the cats are always cheerful when they’re talking to others in their clans.

Erin Hunter has some fantastic vocabulary. She uses words like mewed, apprentice, scrawny and two-legs. Scrawny is a good descriptive word meaning skinny. Two-legs is her funny word that the cats use for humans.

I would recommend this book series to fans of action and adventure because it has lots of fights and they wonder the lands a lot. In fact, I love this first book so much I’m looking forward to reading the next one! I hope the rest of the series is as good, if not better, than this exciting book.

The Mysterious Benedict Society (Reviewed by Anusha Bansal)

With open eyes now you may find
A place you must exit to enter.
Where one -

This book is fiction but a little realistic because this may happen in the future. The book is about a few kids who take tests for special oppertunities and get introduced to Mr. Benedict (good guy), then get sent to the ‘Instutute’ to be undercover agents. This book is great! read it!

There are alot of strengths in here but a couple weaknesses, such as that there are alot of downheartning moments. For example, when Milligan was captured. But there were alot of strengths in this book too, such as when everybody got a family. Another strength is that they found alot of vital info. For example, they discovered a secret room where there were news papers for the future. Another strngth is that there were alot of happy moments to make up for the sad ones. For examole, when they were having a snowball fight!

Hmmmm. I would reccomend this book to those who like adventure, mystery, action, and page turner books. This is a great book, so go read it...
NOW!!!!!

RATING: ***** = 5 star book!
