The Lightening Thief (Reviewed by Edward)

Edward Hribal

The Lightning Thief is sort of similar to Harry Potter, except that Harry is a wizard. But the fact that both boys don’t know who they really are is the same.

This book is fantasy because Greek Mythology is not real and the Empire State building does not have a 600th floor. Percy Jackson wants to do something good for once by completing his quest but god and mythical creatures get in the way so he must defeat them with the help of his partners Annabeth and Grover.

One strength, about this story is it has incredible word choice. For example, there were at least five words I had to look up in the dictionary for this book. Another strength, is the author describes every scene great. For example, when the author describe Ares, they said he had a leather jacket on; black pants with black shoes; knives that went into a compartment attached to the jacket; and black sunglasses that you can barely see his eyes with.

This is absolutely a book worth reading! I recommend this from 4th to 7th grade because the word choice would be too hard for 3rd grade and below, and the book seems too short for an 8th grader or above. I give this book five stars.
